This work investigates Industry 4.0 technologies by developing a new key performance indicator that can determine the energy consumption of machine tools for a more sustainable supply chain. To achieve this, we integrated the machine tool indicator into a cyber–physical system for easy and real-time capturing of data. We also developed software that can turn these data into relevant information (using Python): Using this software, we were able to view machine tool activities and energy consumption in real time, which allowed us to determine the activities with greater energy burdens. As such, we were able to improve the application of Industry 4.0 in machine tools by allowing informed real-time decisions that can reduce energy consumption. In this research, a new Key Performance Indicator (KPI) was been developed and calculated in real time. This KPI can be monitored, can measure the sustainability of machining processes in a green supply chain (GSC) using Nakajima’s six big losses from the perspective of energy consumption, and is able to detect what the biggest energy loss is. This research was implemented in a cyber–physical system typical of Industry 4.0 to demonstrate its applicability in real processes. Other productivity KPIs were implemented in order to compare efficiency and sustainability, highlighting the importance of paying attention to both terms at the same time, given that the improvement of one does not imply the improvement of the other, as our results show.

Salah satu produk olahan kayu yang masih banyak diminati pasar adalah wood profile moulding. Bentuk profil yang tidak mengikuti ruang dasar geometris tertentu dapat dihadirkan melalui Augmented Reality. Pendugaan rendemen produksi kayu profil menjadi kurang akurat dengan bentuknya yang tidak beraturan. Augmented Reality memberikan bentuk nyata dari profil kayu yang akan dibentuk dari pilihan bit router. Augmented Reality dibangun menggunakan penanda (marker) yang diberikan dalam bentuk desain bit router 2D. Aplikasi yang dibuat dengan platform Android bahkan memudahkan pengguna untuk memilih jenis dan spesifikasi bit router, sesuai dengan bentuk profil yang diinginkan. Telah diuji untuk jenis Carbide Cove Router dengan tujuh bit router. Aplikasi dilengkapi dengan perkiraan jumlah profil, volume, hasil produksi, dan limbah kayu yang dihasilkan dari bahan baku kayu yang akan dikerjakan. Percobaan dilakukan pada bahan baku papan berukuran 30x200x2000 mm, menghasilkan jumlah profil cekung yang bervariasi antara 3-5 buah, sesuai dengan ukuran mata bor terluar. Hasil produksi bervariasi dari 42,95 hingga 74,44%. Peningkatan rendemen tersebut sejalan dengan jumlah bilah kayu profil yang diproduksi.

In industrial practice, production planning is a key factor for manufacturers and suppliers. The entire planning process spans from the appearance of the customer demand to the fulfillment of the demand. Operational execution is based on pre-planned production processes and operations using properly allocated resources. The accurate planning of assembly operations within production is an extremely complex process in terms of efficiency. Predicting stochastically variable efficiencies is difficult due to the ever-changing manufacturing conditions. This paper defines typical assembly process situations for a semi-automatic assembly line and examines their consequence for the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Firstly, a literature review demonstrates the scientific relevance. Secondly, the classification of patterns based on assembly process description parameters is described taking into account the positive and negative effects on the OEE. In addition, the assembly patterns and their characteristics are illustrated through a real automotive example.
