Overcoming multiple drug resistance in lung cancer using siRNA targeted therapy

Abstract: Among cancers, lung cancer is the most morbidity and mortality disease that is remaining the fatalist. Generally, there are multiple treatment procedures for lung cancer, such as surgery, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. There is, therefore, an urgent need for more specified and efficient methods for treatment of lung cancer such as RNAi, which in combination with traditional therapies could silence genes that are involved in the drug resistance. These genes may either be motivators of apoptosis i… Show more

“…A further clinical trial based on this drug is still recruiting (NCT02836600). Innovative strategies such as si-mi-RNAs could also represent an interesting approach in solid tumors [Naghizadeh et al, 2019], although their vectorization process is still insufficiently developed to date [Wang et al, 2014].…”

“…Therefore, the characteristics and functions of nanocarriers and biological knowledge of lung cancer have been used to improve the therapeutic effect of RNAi therapy (Magalhães et al, 2018). By determining how to overcome the barrier of nanoparticle-mediated siRNA transmission to carry out gene therapy for lung cancer and comparing the RNAibased technology on miRNA and siRNA, the potential application and prospect of microRNA in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of lung cancer has been revealed (Wang et al, 2009;Kim et al, 2015;Naghizadeh et al, 2019).…”

“…There is an increasing number of studies that report the potential of RNA in treating a range of lung diseases including asthma [ 4 ], cystic fibrosis (CF) [ 5 ], lung cancer [ 6 ], and respiratory infections [ 7 ]. Inhalation of aerosol is an efficient way to deliver RNA to the lung by maximizing local concentration while minimizing systemic exposure.…”
