Abstract:Historical development of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from percutaneous coronary transluminal angioplasty (PCTA) is outlined, along with the progression in the development of coronary artery stents—from the earliest bare-metal stents to drug-eluting stents to the current leading edge of bioresorbable and polymer-free stents.
