Oxidation Behaviour of HVAF-Sprayed NiCr Coating in Moisture-Laden Environment

Abstract: Reducing CO2 emissions from power generation plants is intimately related to enhancing their thermal efficiency, which can be achieved by increasing the temperature/pressure of steam. However, any increase in steam temperature is inevitably accompanied by accelerated oxidation of boiler components. The use of renewable fuels such as biomass increases the problem by introducing a number of corrosive compounds into the boiler environment, resulting in more rapid degradation of components. Although thermal spraye… Show more

“…Erosion resistance of FeCrAlY-Cr3C2 and NiCr-Cr3C2 cermet coatings with carbide levels ranging from 0-100% (in the pre-sprayed powder) was discussed [24] in order to determine the optimum ceramic content for the best erosion resistance. [43,44]. Figure 3 shows the erosion-corrosion (E-C) performance on Ni-20Cr and Ni-5Al coatings on T22 and SA516 boiler steels in actual boiler environment [44, 45 &46].…”
