“…Alternatively, other negative sensory inputs of reflux or esophagitis may counteract positive sensorimotor circuit stimulation (Wingenfeld and Otte, 2019). Half of the non-responders (3/6) and only one of eight responders were infants of diabetic mothers with poor glucose control during pregnancy, which induces a pro-oxidative state for the mother and fetus known to be associated with immune activation, endothelial cell injury, and worse fetal and neonatal outcomes (Teodoro et al, 2013;Durga et al, 2018). A larger sample size may identify specific predictors for responder status leading to a decrease in variance in treatment response.…”

“…Oxidative stress due to alloxan induction causes increased ROS levels. Oxidative damage caused by free radicals has implications in various pathological conditions, namely damage to cells, tissues, and organs such as liver, kidneys, pancreas, and heart in both humans and animals [11,12,18]. This damage may cause death or acceleration of the onset of various degenerative diseases.…”

“…Intraperitoneal alloxan induction has been shown to cause damage to pancreatic islet cells and the incidence of hyperglycemia preceded by elevated levels of ROS and MDA and followed by an inflammatory reaction [10,11]. ROS and NOS due to exposure to alloxan spur lipid membrane peroxidation and oxidation reactions in proteins and DNA [4,11,12]. Pancreatic islet cell destruction due to exposure to alloxan is characterized by genetic damage (DNA) and elevated MDA levels [13][14][15].…”

“…В результате продемонстрирована положительная корреляция между средним уровнем глюкозы в крови матери и повышенным уровнем повреждений ДНК у потомства [18]. Кроме того, новорожденные у матерей с ГСД имели больший уровень повреждений ДНК в клетках пуповинной крови по сравнению с новорожденными матерей с эугликемией [19].…”
