“…As the key metabolic and detoxification organ, the liver is sensitive to heat stress [ 45 , 46 ]. Former studies have indicated that heat stress induces different degrees of liver damage by causing oxidative stress and inflammatory response [ 16 ].…”

“…Overall, over 95% of fatty acids de novo synthesis is completed in the liver [ 5 ]. Hepatic lipid metabolism affects serum lipid metabolism and abdominal adiposity [ 13 , 45 ]. Moreover, the abdominal adiposity depends on hepatic TG synthesis and TG transports from the liver to extrahepatic tissues.…”

“…To further explore the effect of dietary emulsifiers on the lipid metabolism of broilers, the expression levels of liver lipid metabolism-related genes were measured. Different from mammals, the main source of fat in avian species is de novo synthesis of liver fat [4,50,51]. Acc and Fasn encode key enzymes for de novo fatty acid synthesis [52,53].…”

“…The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha ( PPARα )/peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor coactivator 1α ( PGC-1α ) signaling pathway is considered a key pathway for promoting fatty acid oxidation and enhancing cellular energy metabolism ( Ni et al, 2022 ). The activation of the PPARα/PGC-1α signaling pathway can induce the expression of carnitine palmitoyl transferase 1 ( CPT1 ), acyl-coenzyme oxidase ( ACO ) and Acyl CoA synthase long-chain family member 1 ( ACSL1 ), and under the influence of the coactivator PGC-1α, promote fatty acid β-oxidation ( Grabacka et al, 2016 ; Coleman, 2019 ; Zhang et al, 2023 ). A study also found that cold stimulation at 4°C ± 1°C can activate the PPARα/PGC-1α signaling pathway accompanied by increased protein expression of the key metabolic enzymes in β-oxidation ( Stancic et al, 2013 ).…”
