Oxygen Reduction Reaction at LaNiO₃ Supported by Au Ring in Li/Na Eutectic Carbonate with La₂O₃

Abstract

In order to improve the performance of molten carbonates fuel cells, we have investigated the catalytic activity of LaNiO 3 and NiO for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) on a meniscus electrode in Li/Na eutectic carbonates with La oxide. The apparent current density (i 0 ) of LaNiO 3 was slightly smaller than that of NiO. The partial pressure of CO 2 (p CO 2 ) and O 2 (p O 2 ) dependences of ORR were obtained on LaNiO 3 and NiO, and the reaction mechanism of ORR on LaNiO 3 was almost same to that on NiO at 923 K.
