P‐119: Low Cost Perovskite Quantum Dots Film Based Wide Color Gamut Backlight Unit for LCD TVs

Abstract: Perovskite quantum dots film exhibits low cost, low heavy metal content, high brightness and narrow emission peak. Here, we introduced features of Perovskite quantum dots film and its beneficial effects in LCD TVs applications. Afterwards, we thoroughly compared the Perovskite quantum dots film and CdSe based quantum dots enhancement film.

“…To further improve the stability, we plan to improve our encapsulation method in the future including encapsulating the PeQD layer as well as the BOLED backlight separately, etc. So far, there have been reports on the PeQD color conversion films with working lifetime longer than 1000 h in the backlight applications, which is quite close to the real application requirement . It is reasonable to believe the PeQDs can show enough stability and be applied to the display field in the future.…”

“…Several efforts have been devoted to improve the performance of display panels using PeQDs recently . In 2016, Zhong et al demonstrated stable green emissive films composed of MAPbBr 3 nanocrystals embedded in polymer matrix through an in situ process .…”

“…Perovskite QDs are emerging as low-cost alternative for display technology with high system efficiency and wide color gamut performance. Very recently, perovskite QDs have been successfully applied to display systems and a color gamut of 95% BT.2020 was achieved [5]. In table 1, we summarize the performance of these three typical QD materials.…”

“…In our previous work, we have reported the combination of perovskite QDs based composite films and K2SiF6:Mn 4+ (KSF) phosphor for LCD backlight [5]. Although the display backlights show wide color gamut and high brightness, the use of KSF bring the problem of motion tail, which needs to be solved by redesigning the backlight driver.…”
