P‐84: Mechanism and Optical Solution of Light Leakage in ADS Mode

Abstract

In this paper, the mechanism of light leakage in Advanced Super Dimension Switch (ADS) mode is proposed. Light leakage is caused by external stress of TFT and CF substrates, and then combining with optical retardation of LC layer. External force and retardation of liquid crystal (LC) layer are two key factors of light leakage. Several optical solutions are introduced for further improvement. Optical performance of L0 and L255 image are discussed.
