p-Adic mathematical physics: the first 30 years

Abstract: p-Adic mathematical physics is a branch of modern mathematical physics based on the application of p-adic mathematical methods in modeling physical and related phenomena. It emerged in 1987 as a result of efforts to find a non-Archimedean approach to the spacetime and string dynamics at the Planck scale, but then was extended to many other areas including biology. This paper contains a brief review of main achievements in some selected topics of p-adic mathematical physics and its applications, especially in t… Show more

“…where, for examples: [4,8,22] and references therein), and L nl = − 1 6 m 2 R✷ −2 R (see [10] and references therein), and R is the scalar curvature. Usage of F (✷) = +∞ n=0 f n ✷ n is influenced by existence of analytic expressions with ✷ in string field theory and p-adic string theory (see [26] and references therein). Some modified gravity models with analytic nonlocality, which have been so far considered, are concrete examples of the action (without matter)…”

“…The p-adic field and string theories have been studied over the time with some periodic fluctuations in their interest (for some reviews, see [1][2][3][4]). Recently a considerable amount of work has been performed on this topic in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence [5][6][7][8].…”

“…In the literature it is also considered a version of quantum theory based not on real but on p-adic numbers (see e.g. the review paper [45] and references therein). Both, the sets of real and p-adic numbers are the completions of the set of rational numbers but with respect to different metrics.…”
