Abstract:BACKGROUND:
In the last decade, potent immunosuppressive therapy has become the standard treatment for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (1). However, the increasingly use of immunomodulators associated to biological therapy—especially the inhibitors of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α)—have considerably increased the cases of tuberculosis (TB) in IBD patients (2,3).
