P1062expanded Dialysis (Hdx): Is There an Impact on Patient Reported Symptom?

Abstract: Background and Aims High flux dialysis membranes sufficiently remove smaller sized uremic toxins however, the accumulation and retention of larger middle molecular weight toxins, which are associated with chronic inflammation, cardiovascular disease and suboptimal outcomes are poorly cleared. The recent advent of medium-cut-off dialysis membranes, labelled “expanded dialysis” (HDx) are permeable to molecules of larger size responsible for poor clinical outcomes. However, it remains unclear if… Show more

“… 23 - 26 Among the nonrandomized studies, 2 were cohort studies 27 , 28 and the remainder used before-after 16 - 18 , 29 - 37 or crossover designs. 38 Six were abstracts, 29 , 30 , 32 , 34 , 37 and the remaining 16 were full texts, one of which was a manuscript under review. 31 Theranova was the only MCO membrane identified in our search.…”

“…For studies reporting PROs, we considered the risk of bias due to a lack of blinding as low risk of bias (see discussion). Factors contributing to risk of bias included attrition, 16 - 18 , 28 , 32 , 37 lack of risk adjustment, 27 and selection bias. 17 We found no evidence of selective reporting or publication bias.…”
