Parametric study of the fine and hyperfine structure for the even parity configurations of atomic niobium

Abstract: In this work a parametric study of the fine and hyperfine structure (hfs) for the even parity configurations of atomic niobium (Nb I) is presented. A large amount of new experimental data, published during the last decade, have been considered for the fine and hfs analysis. A multi-configuration fit of 14 configurations have been performed by taking into account second-order of perturbation theory including the effects of closed shell-open shell excitations. Predicted values of level energies as well as magnet… Show more

“…This approach was first used for the analysis of the configuration system (5d + 6s) 3 of the lanthanum atom [33], then it was applied to the atomic structure of the tantalum atom [40], the scandium ion [41], the titanium ion [42] and the niobium atom [43]. Recently, we reported how to detect the isomeric state I = (3/2) + in 229 Th by means of a laser induced fluorescence method [44] and our semi-empirical calculations.…”

“…The examples of the results of the semi-empirical fine and hyperfine structure analysis for Nb I are shown in table 1. Details of the calculations and a more extensive comparison to the experiment were presented in the previously published paper [26].…”

“…This procedure is similar to the considerations carried out by Rajnak for l N configuration [9]. The configuration interaction effects were applied by us for the interpretation of the spectra of the lanthanum [25], tantalum [27] and niobium atom [26]. This required the introduction of new formulae, which are presented in this work.…”
