Abstract:The behaviorist approach would justify spanking as a corrective approach to a child’s unwanted behavior. Supported by theories and various studies, this paper discussed that in spanking, however, the desired behavior is forced; it does not imply that the child realizes his or her mistakes, it disregards the notion that children are cognitively complex beings.
