Parking and Ride Induction Methods for Drivers in Commuting Scenes

Abstract: Parking and ride is a very effective method to improve the traffic condition of commuter channels, and it is necessary to develop effective parking guidance strategies. In this study, considering the travel time, walking distance, parking cruise time, parking fee, and personal attributes of drivers, a probability model of parking and ride selection in commuter scenarios was proposed, and a dynamic price adjustment method based on the equilibrium of parking occupancy in the region was constructed. The parking p… Show more

“…Therefore, if the transfer between residential areas and railway stations is more convenient, people may reduce their reliance on taxis in the morning peak hours, which will also have a positive effect on alleviating the traffic congestion. As a result, the government can improve this situation by equipping convenient transfer services, such as developing MaaS (Mobility as a Service), improving the transfer infrastructure between shared bicycles and railway stations, or providing well-equipped park-and-ride facilities around the stations [45]. (3) Contrary to our perception, in general, offering a variety of transportation options has had little to no effect on reducing the taxi ridership, but has largely increased it, especially in downtown areas.…”

“…Among the accepted papers, Zhang et al [1] considered the travel time, walking distance, parking cruise time, parking fee, and personal attributes of drivers, simultaneously, to develop a stochastic model for making the parking and ride selection decisions with different commuter scenarios. They proposed a symmetric duality algorithm to achieve the goal of occupancy equilibrium.…”
