“…Interestingly, SR seemed to have a more repressive effect than BZA in the growth of murine endometriosis-like lesions. We have also shown the antiproliferative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-angiogenic [31][32][33] Beyond the estrogen-dependent nature of endometriosis, the distinct ER expression profile in endometriosis has also been demonstrated. 2,3,34 In humans, so far, a higher ERβ, and a lower ERα expression in endometriotic tissues, which is in the inverse relationship in the endometrium, has been reported.…”

“…Previous studies investigated the effect of isoflavones on endometriosis. Puerarin and parthenolide, two flavonoids, inhibited the proliferation of oral epithelial stem cells . Other investigators showed that genistein caused regression of an endometriotic implant using a rat model .…”

“…Puerarin and parthenolide, two flavonoids, inhibited the proliferation of oral epithelial stem cells. 61,62 Other investigators showed that genistein caused regression of an endometriotic implant using a rat model. 63 Our group recently demonstrated that daidzein-rich isoflavone aglycones (DRIA) suppressed cell proliferation in oral epithelial but not in neuroepithelial stem cells at clinically feasible concentrations.…”

“…In mice with induced endometriosis, treatment with parthenolide, derived from the medical herb feverfew, has been shown to reduce number, surface area and weight of endometriosis implants, associated with a reduction in the level of Vegf, Il-6, Mcp-1, and Lif gene expression, and in the percentage of Ki67-positive cells inside these implants [74].…”
