Abstract:The effect of refractory periods in partial resetting processes is studied. Under Poissonian partial resets, a state variable jumps to a value closer to the origin by a fixed fraction at constant rate, $x\to a x$. Following each reset, a stationary refractory period of arbitrary duration takes place. We derive an exact closed-form expression for the propagator in Fourier-Laplace space, which shows rich dynamical features such as connections not only to other resetting schemes but also to intermittent motion. … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
