Partially reconfigurable TVWS transceiver for use in UK and US markets

Abstract: Abstract-With more and more countries opening up sections of unlicensed spectrum for use by TV White Space (TVWS) devices, the prospect of building a device capable of operating in more than one world region is appealing. The difÞculty is that the locations of TVWS bands within the radio spectrum are not globally harmonised. With this problem in mind, the purpose of this paper is to present a TVWS transceiver design which is capable of being reconÞgured to operate in both the UK and US spectrum. We present thr… Show more

“…Based on initial design work in [25] and [26] for a twostage architecture and a low-rate implementation in [27], this brief explores the design and real-time field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation of a wideband TVWS frequency agile transceiver. In order to accomplish an implementation, different from [25], the number of subbands is restricted to a power of 2.…”

“…Initial work for the proposed two stage TVWS transceiver architecture has been discussed in [25,26], with a low-rate implementation in [27]. Expanding on the elaboration of the single design in [28], this paper compares this to a second design option -with different conversions in the two stages and hence different properties -and details additional implementation considerations.…”
