“…The observed average concentrations of particulate 13 PBDEs ranged from 30.6 to 141.2 pg m −3 , with a mean value of 86.3 pg m −3 (Table 3). This result was consistent with the results of the previous measurements in Shanghai, 108-367 pg m −3 (Yang et al, 2013), and 104 ± 54 pg m −3 (Yu et al, 2011), but was much lower than in Beijing, 760 pg m −3 (Yang et al, 2013), and in waste recycling zones of Qingyuan close to Guangzhou, 3260 pg m −3 (Tian et al, 2011). In addition, these results were compared with those reported in aerosol samples from Ontario (Larsen and Baker, 2003), Chicago (Hoh and Hites, 2005) and three different stations in western Europe (Lee et al, 2004), as well as other Asian cities such as Osaka (9.9-22.3 pg m −3 ) (Kakimoto et al, 2014), Busan (5.3-16 pg m −3 ; Rudich et al, 2007) and Singapore (7.5 pg m −3 ; Shen et al, 2013).…”

“…Within the DecaBDE category, BDE-209 was the main congener, ranging from 41.65 to 97.13 % of total PBDEs, with the exception of samples collected at S2 (31.39 %) and S5 (21.63 %). This finding is in agreement with the lack of restrictions on DecaBDE production or use in most countries, whereas Deca-BDE is a main element of BFR production in China (Yu et al 2011).…”

“…Once in the environment, DP would undergo long-range atmospheric transport to even remote regions of the world (Hoh et al, 2006;Möller et al, 2010). As a result of its historic and continued use, tendency for long-range atmospheric transport, and hydrophobicity, DP has been found in a wide variety of biota and abiotic environment samples (Gauthier and Letcher, 2009;Guerra et al, 2011;Hoh et al, 2006;Qiu and Hites, 2008;Sverko et al, 2010;Wang et al, 2010;Yu et al, 2010Yu et al, , 2011. Furthermore, an increasing body of evidence suggests that DP readily accumulates within biological tissues (Jia et al, 2011;Shen et al, 2011;Wu et al, 2010) and is biomagnified through food webs (Tomy et al, 2007;Wu et al, 2010).…”
