Abstract

This paper describes the development of a real-time particle flow meter for pneumatic conveyance systems. The subject is approached by a brief overview of the pneumatic transportation process and method of particle detection, movlng to the decisions taken on the choice of host processor system, the design of the final system and the results obtained to date.The application of this work is not confined to commercial pneumatically conveyed products, such as epoxy powder paint for electrostatic paint spraying; the measurement system itself is of interest to the CEGB for determining the efficiency of their electrostatic precipitators and exhaust-gas-driven turbine protection.
