Abstract:Measurements of C 2 n time series using unattended commericial scintillometers over long time intervals inevitably lead to data drop-outs or degraded signals. We present a method using Principal Component Analysis (also known as Karhunen-Loève decomposition) that seeks to correct for these event-induced and mechanicallyinduced signal degradations. We report on the quality of the correction by examining the Intrinsic Mode Functions generated by Empirical Mode Decomposition.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
