Patient satisfaction with nutrition services amongst cancer patients treated with autologous stem cell transplantation: a comparison of usual and extended care

Abstract: Cancer patients treated with autologous stem cell transplantation were satisfied with usual and extended nutrition care. Extended care patients who received at least three telephone calls after hospital discharge were more satisfied than those with less frequent intervention. Further exploration regarding the frequency and intensity of nutrition service is required.

“…This is an important finding since it suggests that patients do not appear to find the intensive dietary counseling too burdensome despite the demands of treatment. Similar findings are reported in previous studies using the PSCNS to assess patient satisfaction in head and neck and gastrointestinal cancer, hematology, and chemotherapy patients receiving individualized dietary counseling compared to usual care further suggesting intensive nutrition intervention is not perceived to be burdensome (27,30,31). No difference was found between the groups for dietitian interpersonal skills.…”

“…Eine Verbesserung könnte hier die konsequentere Nutzung von telefonischer Kontaktaufnahme und Beratung im Rahmen der poststationären Betreuung bringen.
