PCGAP: Application to analyze gamma-ray pulse-height spectra on a personal computer under Windows NT®

Abstract: PCGAP is a software code, which was written to provide gamma-ray pulse height spectrum analysis on a personal computer platform. The code was specifically developed for Windows NT for either an Intel | or DEC Alpha | based processor. PCGAP includes programs which can be used to control data collection using a Canberra INSPECTOR | multichannel pulse-height analyzer. With suitable spectrum conversion routines PCGAP can be used to analyze data from almost any multi-channel analyzer. Besides the normal functions a… Show more

“…The gamma-ray spectrum measurements from the HPGe detectors in each FPMS were used to find the release activities of several different isotopes of krypton and xenon shown in Table 2. The acquired spectra were automatically analyzed using the INL-developed PCGAP gamma-ray spectral analysis code [5,6] and were stored electronically. At the end of each irradiation cycle the FPMS measured activities were corrected to account for decay that occurred during transport from the capsules to the detectors.…”

“…Figure 4 shows the details of the FPMS spectrometer collimator, and flow-through sample chamber. (2) branches from the channel, passes through the gross radiation monitoring station (3) where it is viewed by a shielded up-looking NaI(Tl) detector, and then into the HPGe spectrometer shield (4) and through the spectrometer sample chamber viewed from the bottom by the HPGe detector (5). From the chamber the effluent line returns to the pipe chase channel and leaves the cubicle to of treatment filters and then to the plant ventilation system.…”
