Abstract:Epileptiform activity (EA) manifests in diverse patterns of hypersynchronous network activity. Fundamental research mostly addresses two extreme patterns, individual epileptiform spikes and seizures. We developed PEACOC to detect and classify a wide range of EA patterns in local field potentials. PEACOC delimits EA patterns as bursts of epileptiform spikes, and classifies these bursts according to spike load. In EA from kainate-injected mice, burst patterns displayed a continuum of spike loads. With PEACOC, we… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
