PEDOT-modified integrated microelectrodes for the detection of ascorbic acid, dopamine and uric acid

Abstract: International audienceIntegrated (Pt/PEDOT–Pt–Ag/AgCl) and (Au/PEDOT–Pt–Ag/AgCl) electrochemical microcells (ElecCell) were elaborated for the detection of ascorbic acid, dopamine and uric acid by differential pulse voltam-metry. Specific attention was brought to the integration of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) film by electropolymerization. Gold and platinum working microelectrodes were investigated while using ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) electrodeposition processes in water or acetonitrile solve… Show more

“…The two anodic peaks observed on the forward scan and located at 0.05 and 0.4 V were assigned to AA and UA oxidation, respectively. The shapes of these peaks were consistent with a diffusion-controlled process for AA and an adsorption-limited one for UA, in accordance with previous studies [21,45]. However, it has to be noticed that both peaks exhibited a slightly resistive behavior which was not observed on glassy carbon (GC) material [21].…”

“…In the range of 0.1-10 μM, a linear relationship between the dopamine concentration and the response current can be obtained, and the detection sensitivity is determined to be ~0.06 nA/μM. For our spin coated PEDOT:PSS film, the normalized current response of dopamine by area is calculated to be 200 nA/μM/cm 2 , which is comparable to that measured by electrochemical sensors based on other materials47,48 .InFig. 3e, we further record the FSCV responses by dropping dopamine solutions in HCl, plotting the current response as a function of both time and voltage.…”

“…In the electrochemical sensing technique, the detection of DA is limited by the interfering biomolecules having the similar oxidation potential such as ascorbic acid (AC), uric acid (UA) and glucose, which results in superimpose responses making their differences difficult. 8,9 To overcome this problem, modied electrodes are designed for the selective and sensitive detection of DA. Intriguingly, the oxidation peak potential of DA appeared to be more positive over carbonbased modied electrodes.…”
