Evaluating the government's success in economic development is essential to assess how effectively the government can address unemployment and enhance job opportunities. To ensure that the workforce is optimally absorbed, it must be accompanied by the creation of new and abundant job opportunities. Labor issues are a common concern in developing countries like Indonesia, which has a large population. A significant population size leads to a substantial labor force, resulting in a high number of job seekers and unemployed individuals, which in turn leads to relatively low incomes. This research aims to analyze several factors influencing labor force absorption in East Java from 2017 to 2022. This research method utilizes secondary data, which consists of a 6-year panel data from 2017 to 2022. The analytical method employed in this research is multiple linear regression. The results of this research indicate that the minimum wage and economic growth do not have a significant impact on labor force absorption in East Java Province. On the other hand, the average years of schooling have a considerable influence on labor force absorption in East Java Province. This research serves as valuable input for determining the direction and future development strategies and can be used as a reference for predicting the labor force conditions in East Java. The imbalance between the large labor force and available job opportunities in East Java highlights the need for the government to focus more on labor force absorption in the province. These three factors can serve as a guide for the government in addressing labor force issues, aiming to optimize labor force absorption and consequently boost economic growth in East Java Province.

Secara teori apabila pertumbuhan ekonomi meningkat maka meningkat pula penyerapan tenaga kerja, namun dari data yang dianalisa selama 30 tahun terakhir di Provinsi Sumatera Barat berdasarkan data dari (Badan Pusat Statistik) BPS, meningkatnya pertumbuhan ekonomi tidak menyerap tenaga kerja dengan baik sehingga tidak sesuai dengan teori. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis seberapa besar pengaruh pertumbuhan ekonomi dan tingkat pendidikan terhadap penyerapan tenaga kerja di Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif dengan memakai data sekunder dari (Badan Pusat Statistik) BPS Provinsi Sumatera Barat Tahun 1992-2021. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dan studi pustaka. Selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan Uji Asumsi Klasik yang meliputi Uji Autokorelasi, Uji Normalitas, Uji Multikolinearitas, dan Uji Heteroskedastisitas, Uji Analisis Regresi Linear Berganda, Uji Koefisien Determinasi (R-Square), Uji Hipotesis t dan Uji Hipotesis f. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa 1) variabel pertumbuhan ekonomi tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penyerapan tenaga kerja di Provinsi Sumatera Barat. 2) variabel tingkat pendidikan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penyerapan tenaga kerja di Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Nilai R-Square sejumlah 0,926 atau 92,6% sedangkan sisanya sejumlah 0,074 atau 7,4% disebabkan oleh variabel independen berbeda yang tidak dimasukkan pada penelitian ini, seperti tingkat upah, pertumbuhan penduduk, dan investasi. Tidak berpengaruhnya pertumbuhan ekonomi pada penyerapan tenaga kerja diakibatkan meningkatnya migran masuk ke Provinsi Sumatera Barat dan adanya budaya atau kebisaan masyarakat Sumatera Barat untuk pergi merantau ke luar daerah asalnya untuk mencari kerja.

The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) provides an overview of the population aged 15 years and over who are active at working age, whether they are currently working, not yet working, or looking for work. By knowing the LFPR, the percentage of the working-age population that is economically active in a region can be known. The higher the LFPR, the higher the supply of available labor to produce goods and services. This study aims to analyze the effect of education, junior and senior high school workforce, economic growth, and labor force participation rates on employment absorption in the districts/cities of Aceh Province. The data used is secondary data with a time series from 2014 to 2021 and cross-sections from 23 districts/cities in Aceh Province. Data analysis used the Panel Regression Model with the Generalized Least Squares Method. The results showed that the workforce has a junior high school education, the average length of schooling, and the labor force participation rate positively affect employment. In contrast, the workforce has a high school education, and economic growth does not affect employment. Considering that the number of junior high school education staff is the largest, educational improvement must be carried out with government policies in remote areas in Aceh Province so that more highly educated workers can be absorbed.
