It is a consequence of ischemia (e.g., after penile strangulation ) , with multiple etiologies: systemic vasculitis , paraphimosis , intracavernous use of substances , diabetes , end‐stage chronic renal failure due to calciphylaxis , systemic use (or abuse) of drugs , infection , secondary to surgical treatment for penile or urethra diseases , and finally, following masturbation .
