Perfluoran: Plasma substitute with oxygen transporting function

Abstract: Research carried out in Russia in the 1970s and 1980s, was aimed at creation of plasma substitute with gas-transporting function, and resulted in development of perfluoran. Perfluoran normalizes gas exchange and metabolism, transports oxygen and carbon dioxide, stabilizes cell membranes, corrects blood rheology and microcirculatory disorders, improves central hemodynamics, and exhibits adsorption and diuretic activities.
