Performance Analysis of 5G Stand Alone Inter-band Carrier Aggregation

Abstract: Today, high data rate is the prior requirement to support services and applications. It is definitely a challenge for the 5G New Radio (NR) in providing high data rates, in order to support use cases, especially enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB). The objective of this research is to design a 5G network which has greater data rates employing carrier aggregation techniques. Carrier Aggregation (CA) is a way which is able to improve data rates by aggregate component carriers, hence, it can make a wider bandwidth. … Show more

“…Planning a 5G network with inter-band carrier aggregation scenarios at a frequency of 2300 MHz with a 40 MHz channel bandwidth and frequency of 3500 MHz with a 100 MHz channel bandwidth has been addressed using the Mentum Planet software. It used carrier aggregation methods based on coverage planning and offered a greater data rate [5]. This research contributed to the use of real traffic based on Twitter users to optimize the number of gNodeB needed in this field adjusted to the number of user densities in a specific area [6], [7], [8].…”

“…Furthermore, alongside the equitable dissemination of internet connectivity, there is a requirement for the advancement of infrastructure to support 5G technology services. The latest services of 5G technology can be achieved through three distinct use cases: enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra reliable low latency communication (URLLC), and massive machine type communication (mMTC) [3], [4]. eMBB primarily emphasises on the user experience on mobile devices by delivering greater data transfer rates, hence reducing the time delay [5].…”
