Performance Analysis of Space-Shift Keying in Decode-and-Forward Multihop MIMO Networks

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, space-shift keying (SSK) is considered for multihop multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) networks. In SSK, only one among n s = 2 m available transmit antennas, chosen on the basis of m information bits, is activated during transmission. We consider two different systems of multihop cooperation, where each node has multiple antennas and employs SSK. In system I, a multihop diversity relaying scheme is considered. In system II, a multihop multibranch relaying scheme is considered. In bo… Show more

“…Specifically, dual‐hop cooperative network consisting of a source, relay, and destination nodes are the most adopted cooperative scenario. The error performance of an SSK dual‐hop MIMO relaying network is evaluated in the works of Som and Chockalingam and Mesleh et al and an antenna selection algorithm is proposed in the work of Yarkin et al A packet delay and link adaptation schemes are suggested in the work of Luo and Teh . Moreover, several works have investigated the different performance aspects and the associated challenges for SM systems including outage probability, relay selection, full‐duplex relaying, and error performance with multiple cooperative relays .…”

“…Siding away from spread spectrum techniques, the relatively new spatial-shift keying (SSK), which is widely implemented for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, is considered as a strong candidate for next generation wireless communication systems [20]. The same applies for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), which is believed to be the best in multicarrier modulation and is also extensively used in broadband and MIMO systems [21].…”
