“…The compressive strengths of PRGCs containing RC and RB were in the range of 4.4–8.1 and 2.4–7.2 MPa, respectively, and were lower than those of SD (13.6–26.3 MPa) due to the lower bulk density and specific gravity of recycled aggregates. Furthermore, the presence of more porous cement mortar in recycled aggregates make these aggregates weaker than natural aggregates and the bonding in the ITZ between the cement matrix and surface of recycled aggregate was weaker than that in natural aggregate cement composites .
