Performance of quasi-orthogonal space-time code with antenna selection

Abstract: The performance of a quasi-orthogonal space-time block code with antenna selection is considered. Transmit antenna selection as well as receive antenna selection is studied. A new selection rule is proposed that minimises the average bit error ratio and achieves full diversity even if only a simple zero-forcing receiver is used.

“…In the conventional receive antenna selection for the orthogonal STBC (O-STBC) with full diversity, the receiver computes SNRs for every receive antenna and select one with the maximum SNR [10]. For the QO-STBC, the optimum criterion was proposed to trade off a maximization of the channel gain with a maximization of the channel dependent interference parameter when ZF decoder was considered [11]. Here, EO-STBC is the one of non-orthogonal STBCs.…”

“…Though the DSTTD scheme outperfonns general MIMO schemes, still the perfonnance can be further improved by using Receive Antenna Selection (RAS) scheme [5][6][7][8][9]. The Southeast University, 210096 Nanjing, China juliu@sdu.edu.cn idea of antenna selection is based on the scenario that as the hardware configuration of the MIMO systems is difficult to remodel, we can install a larger set of antennas and allot RF chains to the best antenna subset combination by utilizing lowcost RF switches.…”
