Abstract: Background-The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system is implicated in the pathogenesis of heart failure. Pharmacological blockade of angiotensin II (Ang II)-dependent signaling is clinically effective in reducing cardiovascular events after myocardial infarction (MI) but still fails to completely prevent remodeling.
