Persistently elevated circulating Th22 reversely correlates with prognosis in HBV‐related acute‐on‐chronic liver failure

Abstract: Persistently elevated circulating Th22 reversely correlates with prognosis in HBV-ACLF. Th22 cells/IL-22 might be served as biomarkers for evaluating the prognosis of HBV-ACLF.

“…Foxp3+ Tregs are well-known immunoregulatory cells, and have been found significantly enhanced during chronic HBV infection 24 . Importantly, the suppressive effect of Following Th17 populations are identified, a number of studies have reported that the changes of Treg/Th17, Th1/Th17, and Th22/Th17 ratios are associated with the progression of HBV infection 6,7,30 . In the present study, we found a significant increased Th1/Th9 proportion, and direct relationship between Th1/Th9 ratios and HBV DNA loads in CHB patients, suggesting that persisting HBV infection can induce a wide variety of disorders of CD4+ T cell immune responses.…”

“…IL-22, mainly manufactured by hepatic γδ T cells is shown to attenuate liver injury in case of adenovirus-infected murine model ( 121 ). In contrast with IL-22 beneficiary effect, its association with prognosis in chronic liver inflammation, fibrosis and Hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) have also been studied ( 122 124 ). HCV induced IL-22 up-regulation in liver cells does not itself regulate antiviral proteins and HCV replication in cell lines ( 125 ).…”
