Perspectives on Telemedicine

Abstract: Telemedicine also denoted as telehealth and e-health, is the remote diagnosis and delivery of healthcare using telecommunications technology. This article presents a synopsis of some of the features associated with telemedicine including the training courses, the technology involved, the medical implications, and the underlying ethics.

“…Using Continuous-Time Quantum Monte-Carlo, it has been shown [38] that OCA is markedly superior to the simpler Non-Crossing Approximation (NCA) for dealing with multi-orbital Anderson models, although certain sum rule violations are found. Very importantly, OCA has shown excellent agreement with experiments in very complex multi-orbital systems [17,39,40]. More details about the OCA method are given in the Appendix.…”

“…Here, we assume a constant CO 2 of 410 ppm. (a) Variation of the p K a * of H 2 CO 3 /HCO 3 – , HCO 3 – /CO 3 2– in comparison with that of NH 4 + /NH 3 with liquid water content L w at 298 K. (b) The buffering capacity curves under four representative scenarios: the organic-rich clean southeastern U.S.A. aerosols in fall (SE-US Fall), the more polluted winter aerosols in Beijing, the polluted fog in San Joaquin Valley, California, and a cloud case . See detailed scenario settings in Table S2.…”

“…Therefore, its buffering capacity is much lower than in aerosols, which gradually exceeds ε thr only at higher pH levels (> ∼4.5 for the “polluted fog” case and > ∼5.5 for the “cloud” case in Figure b). Nevertheless, it can still serve as the dominant buffering agent for the polluted conditions with high ammonia concentrations and high pH of 6–7, like the fogs observed in California’s San Joaquin Valley ,, (i.e., “polluted fog” case in Figure b) and Italy’s Po Valley. For acidified clouds/acid rains with lower pH of ∼4 (ref ), the overall importance of ammonia buffering can be much lower or sometimes negligible (e.g., Figure b, “cloud” case). More observations and further studies are needed to illustrate the frequency of occurrence and situations when it is important.…”
