PET-CT/-MRT der Prostata

Abstract: The Ga-labeled PSMA ligands for PET-CT and PET-MRI are highly specific tracers for primary diagnostics and detection of metastases of prostate carcinoma. In risk patients, which includes patients with intermediate and high-risk tumors, they have largely replaced choline-based PET-CT, especially in the case of very low PSA values<0.5 ng/ml in the diagnostics of recurrence. The use in the primary diagnostics as PET-MRI, also in combination with multiparametric MRI (mpMRI), is promising with respect to early diag… Show more

“…The paired base substances of lipid (water), water (iodine), and water (calcium) contents were selected for analysis, because the range of substances commonly used in medicine from fat to iodine contrast agents was included [ 25 ]. Knorr et al have proved that free fatty acids in malignant ascites were 3 times higher than those in liver cirrhosis, and both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids in malignant ascites were higher than those in liver cirrhosis [ 26 ]. This is because fatty acids are the energy substrate for tumor cell metabolism, and malignant effusion contains dense and abundant tumor cells, which grow and metabolize vigorously, so lipids increase in malignant ascites [ 27 30 ].…”

“…It combines the superb soft tissue characterization of MRI and the metabolic characterization of PET 207 , 208 . Since the first whole body PET/MRI system was installed in 2010 209 , PET/MRI dual-imaging systems have been widely applied in clinical studies and trials of brain tumors 210 , 211 , head and neck carcinoma 212 , breast diseases 208 , 213 , lymphoma 214 , ovarian cancer 215 , and prostate cancer 216 . These encouraging results indicate a future direction for clinical applications of multimodality reporter genes.…”

“…1,2 Recent data additionally demonstrate the high potential of prostate-specific membrane antigen ligand positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET) for tumor delineation 3,4 and detection of frequently occurring metastases in lymph nodes and bones. 5,6 We therefore expect PSMA-PET imaging to become an increasingly important imaging modality for diagnosis and treatment planning of prostate cancer patients.…”
