“…This is not f-f intraband transitions, but electric dipole allowed f-d transitions in some rare earth ions in crystals. Of course, a lot of things still should be clarified (including an influence of nanoparticle surface on FRET and details of UV SNOM construction), but actually the research aiming the use of LaF 3 :Pr 3+ and LaF 3 :Ce 3+ nanoparticles (lasing in LaF 3 :Ce 3+ crystals also has been reported 66 ) made by microwave-hydrothermal technique 67 as FRET SNOM probes has already started. Situation is very different for three-valent Pr and Ce ions in different crystals, where even at room temperatures the quantum efficiency of f-d transition is close to unity 63 which, in particular, enabled recently to observe single praseodymium ion in YAG 64 and YSO 65 crystals.…”

“…the optical emission cross section s ¼ 6.8 Â 10 À18 cm 2 and the uorescence time ¼ 50 ns (band 280-315 nm), 58 show that the corresponding systems should be quite comparable with FRET SNOM probes exploiting dye molecules (but we hope much more photostable). Of course, a lot of things should still be claried (including the inuence of the nanoparticle surface on FRET and details of the UV SNOM construction), but actually the research aiming to use LaF 3 :Pr 3+ and LaF 3 :Ce 3+ nanoparticles (lasing in LaF 3 :Ce 3+ crystals has also been reported 66 ) made by microwave-hydrothermal techniques 67 as FRET SNOM probes has already started.…”

“…29−31 Similarly, some experimental studies demonstrated that for the Ln 3+ ion doped YPO 4 system prepared in hydrothermal conditions, the phase transformation from t-to h-phase YPO 4 is easy to be controlled or fine-tuned. 26 Differently, Y 3+ has the same coordination number of 8 in both the t-and h-phase YPO 4 , 1,2 which drives us to understand the phase transformation from t-to h-phase YPO 4 conception in terms of coordination number, strong steric hindrance, and repulsion. To date, the mechanism of the phase transformation from t-to h-phase YPO 4 crystal remains unclear.…”

“…The crystal structure of YPO 4 is known to mainly exist in two polymorphic forms, namely, hexagonal (h-) and tetragonal (t-) phases. , The former phase was first reported in 1989. It has P 6 2 22 space group (No.…”

“…In present work we chose two different water based synthetic approaches to LaF 3 :Nd 3+ NPs: hydrothermal microwave treatment (HTMW), allowing one to obtain highly crystalline NPs, and co‐precipitation (CO) technique widely used due to its extreme simplicity . The aim was to study the correlation between the crystallinity of LaF 3 :Nd 3+ NPs, assuming it depends on synthesis method, and their fluorescent properties.…”
