“…A high-power deep-UV laser source based on nonlinear optical frequency conversion is important for medical and industrial applications owing to its compactness and it being maintenance-free. In fact, many papers on deep-UV generation in borate crystals such as KB 5 O 8 1 4H 2 O (KB5), [1][2][3] β-BaB 2 O 4 ( β-BBO), [4][5][6] LiB 3 O 5 (LBO), [7][8][9][10] CsB 3 O 5 (CBO), [9][10][11][12] CsLiB 6 O 10 (CLBO), 9,[13][14][15][16][17][18] K 2 Al 2 B 2 O 7 (KABO), 19) and KBe 2 BO 3 F 2 (KBBF) 20,21) have been reported. Owing to its adequate birefringence and high damage threshold, Li 2 B 4 O 7 was also found to be a promising material for deep-UV generation using a solid-state laser with emission at 1 µm.…”
