Phase Shifts in Single- and Dual-Gate GaAs MESFET's for 2-4-GHz Quadrature Phase Shifters

Abstract

The electromugnetic field niodes in partiul-height ferrite circulutors are classified into two categories: oolume modes uiid surjuce modes. Their properties are described in detuil. The merhod of expunding the circulutor bandwidth ut the millimeter wave hand is inoestigated. A set of theoretictil re,rults ure culculated for u n = 2 Chebyshev response. A K,-band circulutor is designed. The meusured miriimum isolatiori is 15 dB ouer u 9-GHz hundwidth. The experimeiitul result utid theoretical prediction ure similur. ABSTRACTA network anulvzer consisting of two six-port reflectomerers wus constructed for use over the WR90 bandwidth. Each six-port rejectometer comprised a s~~mmetricul jive-port junction and u directionul coupler. Luhoratory rests indicated that measurement accuracies of 0.01 in mugnitude and f 2 O in phase were ohtarnuhle for both rejection und trunsmis.sion coefficients.
