Photometric solution and period analysis of the contact binary system AH Cnc

Abstract: Photometric observations of AH Cnc, a W UMa-type system in the open cluster M67, were carried out by using the 50BiN telescope. About 100 h of time-series Band V -band data were taken, based on which eight new times of light minima were determined. By applying the Wilson-Devinney method, the light curves were modeled and a revised photometric solution of the binary system was derived. We confirmed that AH Cnc is a deep contact (f = 51%), low mass-ratio (q = 0.156) system. Adopting the distance modulus derived … Show more

“…Yakut et al (2009) calculated the MT rate of 9.4 × 10 −8 M yr −1 for the binary with a mass ratio of 0.17, P = 0.3604360 ± 0.0000001 days. Peng et al (2016) estimated the masses and radii of the components of the contact binary as 1.188±0.061 M , 1.332±0.063 R and 0.185±0.032 M , 0.592±0.051 R respectively through period analysis.…”

“…For Y Sex and V1363 Ori, there evidently exist quasicyclic variations from their (O − C) curves of Figure 3. This case occurs in other DLMR overcontact binaries Yang & Qian (2015), such as CK Boo (Yang 2012), V345 Gem (Yang 2009) and AH Cnc (Peng et al 2016).…”

“…M67 (also known as Messier 67 or NGC 2682, hereinafter referred to as M67) is selected as the observation object, which is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Cancer, with about 500 members(Zhang et al 2005;Pribulla et al 2008;Peng et al 2016;Canton et al 2021). The star field is not dense and the brightness is concentrated in 10-11 mag, which is an ideal photometric calibration area.…”
