Photon Emission and Reabsorption Processes in CH3NH3PbBr3 Single Crystals Revealed by Time-Resolved Two-Photon-E

Abstract: The dynamical processes of radiative recombination of photocarriers and reabsorption of emitted photons in CH 3 NH 3 PbBr 3 single crystals are studied using time-resolved two-photon-excitation photoluminescence (PL) microscopy. We find that the PL spectrum and its decay dynamics depend on the excitation depth profile. As the excitation depth increases, the PL spectrum becomes asymmetric, the peak energy redshifts, and the PL decay time becomes longer. These observations can be well explained by a simple model… Show more

“…We also derived © = 0.54 from the absorption coefficient and spontaneous emission spectrum. 22 Finally, we obtain¯P L = 0.85 from eq 9. This very high internal quantum efficiency means that perovskite semiconductors have a high potential for use in optoelectronic devices, such as solar cells, light emitting diodes, and lasers.…”

“…Similar time-dependent PL peak shifts were observed for MAPbBr 3 single crystals. 21,22 To clarify the origin of the difference between the PL spectra of thin films and single crystals, we compared the timeresolved PL under one-photon and two-photon excitation. One photon excitation refers to an excitation with a single photon with energy equal to or above bandgap.…”

“…The significance of these processes for the optical responses has been supported by the analysis of spatially resolved PL. 98 The positive and negative effects of photon recycling on the performance of solar cells and LEDs are still to be clarified, because they make the details of the light extraction process much more complicated.…”

“…[96][97][98] The thin film PL spectra are complicated, because they depend on the grain size 82,99 and the two different crystal phases of the perovskite coexist at low temperatures. 85,100,101 Investigations on a high quality single crystal allows to clarify the fundamental optical properties of the halide lead perovskite.…”
