Physical Interpretation of the Solution to the Problem of Diffraction on a Half-plane with Non-Ideal Boundary Conditions

Abstract: The recently proposed method of fundamental components is employed to develop a technique for obtaining a heuristic solution to the problem of diffraction on a half-plane with non-ideal boundary conditions. The difference between the new method and traditional heuristic approaches, such as the geometric theory of diffraction and the method of edge waves, is the presence of an adjustment procedure which allows increasing the accuracy while maintaining the compactness of the formulas.
