Physicochemical and Adsorption Characteristics of Divinylbenzene-co-Triethoxyvinylsilane Microspheres as Materials for the Removal of Organic Compounds

Abstract: In this work, organic-inorganic materials with spherical shape consisting of divinylbenzene (DVB) and triethoxyvinylsilane (TEVS) were synthesized and investigated by different complementary techniques. The obtained microspheres may be applied as sorbent systems for the purification of organic compounds from water. The hybrid microspheres combine the properties of the constituents depending on the morphologies and interfacial bonding. In this work, the influence of the molar ratio composition of crosslinked mo… Show more

“…The recorded maximum adsorption values were within the ranges of 0.257–0.381 and 0.521–0.873 mmol/g, respectively, for IBP and D ( Figure 4 c). This dependence can be correlated based on the differences in the water solubility of these substances [ 1 , 19 , 43 , 58 ]. In the case of the tested non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ibuprofen is more soluble in water than diclofenac.…”

“…S BET (m 2 /g) Generally, the FT-IR analysis confirms the strong organic aromatic (hydrophobic) character of the investigated samples. The data obtained from potentiometric titration and FT-IR spectroscopy are in good compatibility (Bosacka et al, 2021). The series of DMSPS-co-DVB nanocomposites were tested in terms of their sorption characteristics.…”
