Background: Thalassemia is characterized by genetic abnormalities in the synthesis of hemoglobin, leading to a decrease or missing production of one or more in the globin chains. Consequently, this disrupts the synthesis of hemoglobin molecules, resulting in anemia, which is a prominent manifestation of thalassemia. Iron is an essential element for cellular health and is involved in various functions, including oxygen transportation, biomolecule synthesis, respiration, and homeostasis. Hepcidin, a low molecular weight peptide produced in the liver, plays a crucial role in regulating iron homeostasis. Objectives: Study the correlation of Hepcidin with Hemoglobin, Ferritin, and Iron Parameters in Patients with Beta-Thalassemia major. Methods: The serum ferritin of all subjects was measured by the ELFA technique (Enzyme Linked Fluorescent Assay), Serum Hepcidin is measured by the ELISA kit, and Iron, UIBC as well as TIBC are measured via colorimetric methods. Results: The { mean ± SD } of Ages and Genders among Patients with healthy groups were not significant. The { mean ± SD } of Hb and serum levels of Iron, UIBC, TIBC, Hepcidin concentration, and BMI between Patients and healthy groups were statistically significant. The study results of the correlation between Hepcidin and other markers in the beta-thalassemia patient's group showed a non-significant negative correlation of hepcidin with TIBC and UIBC. while there is a non-significant weak correlation between hepcidin with Hb and Ferritin. and the results have shown a non-significant positive correlation between hepcidin and Iron. Conclusion: In this study showed a marked reduction in hemoglobin production and high levels of Iron and Ferritin concentration, while the concentration of TIBC and UIBC was observed to decrease in individuals with this disease compared to healthy individuals. This study showed low hepcidin concentration in ?-TM major patients compared to healthy subjects.

Melasma is one of the commonest dermatological challenges that facing dermatologists in the whole world. Most of the previously published articles regarding melasma usually focused on its management and the newly discovered drugs; however, the understanding of the suspected etiology and the pathogenesis is very critical to treat this skin disorder in a correct manner. Therefore, this review is an attempt to do a comprehensive updating on the present understanding of the melasma epidemiology, etiology, its role in pregnant, post-menopausal women, and in males, besides its clinical features and diagnosis through searching in many scientific databases including EMBASE, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Pubmed Central (PMC), Medline, Web of Science, and Scopus. This review approaches recognizing the pathogenesis that can provide ideas to solve the therapeutic problems which connect to melasma. Therefore, this article is entirely established on previously performed studies so that no new studies on animal or human subjects were conducted by the author.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder of the joints that is characterized by extra-articular involvement in addition to inflammatory arthritis. Joint and periarticular tissue loss brought on by inflammation results in functional impairment. To lessen the significant daily challenges that patients confront and to ensure better outcomes, early detection and treatment are essential. The study's objective was to establish the use of human β-defensin-2 (HBD-2) as a RA diagnostic marker. A total of 60 RA patients and 30 healthy controls participated in the research. The ELISA technique was used to measure serum HBD-2. The following tests were performed: complete blood count (CBC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), renal function test, and liver function test. In comparison to the healthy control group, the RA group exhibited a substantially higher blood HBD-2 levels (p ≤0.001). Additionally, there was no significant association between serum HBD-2 and urea, creatinine, AST, ALT, and ESR (P>0.05). When RA was distinguished from the group of healthy individuals, the area under the curve (AUC) demonstrated excellent diagnostic accuracy (AUC = 0.990, p = 0.001). (0.9667). As a result, serum HBD-2 may be used as a reliable RA diagnostic marker.
