New species of the giant deep‐sea isopod genus Bathynomus (Crustacea, Isopoda, Cirolanidae) from Hainan Island, South China Sea

Milne Edwards, 1879 (Crustacea, Isopoda, Cirolanidae) is one of the most well-known benthic taxa due to its large size (Holthuis & Mikulka 1972;Wetzer 1986;Bruce & Bussarawit 2004;Lowry & Dempsey 2006). Recently, the taxon has attracted more research attention from physiologists, biologists and ecologists (Perry & Hinsch 1991;Tso & Mok 1991;Soong & Mok 1994;Tsukamoto et al 2000;Barradas-Ortiz et al 2003;Yoko & Kiyoaki 2003;Tanaka et al 2011).
