Pigmentation and Scaring Management after Hypodermoclysis, a Case Report

Abstract: Hypodermoclysis is the continuous subcutaneous infusion of a parenteral solution into dermal tissue, which is typically associated with skin lesions and cosmetic issues in the majority of patients. Scarring and pigmentation are two of the potential skin lesions after hypodermoclysis. The way skin diseases and cosmetic issues are treated has altered dramatically as a result of laser technology. This is the first article to our knowledge that describes the treatment of pigmentation and scarring produced by Hypod… Show more

“…The VL applicator is useful for treatment of “blue or purple” vessels which are located deeper in the epidermis and often slightly larger. 32 It can also be used to treat notable brown pigmentation caused by sun damage. 32 If the patient's natural skin colour is pink, the vessels are often smaller and located closer to the skin surface and would respond better to the PR handpiece.…”

“…Remarkable light scattering and absorption 28 occur in skin, mostly in the stratum corneum. 29,30 To compensate for the energy loss in the stratum corneum, efficient PDT therapy requires high light irradiance, usually up to 150 mW cm −2 . 31 Such a high irradiance causes immediate pain, which can be perceived by almost all patients, and in many cases, becomes unbearable.…”
