Pithecellobium clypearia: Amelioration Effect on Imiquimod-Induced Psoriasis in Mice Based on a Tissue Metabonomic Analysis

Abstract: Pithecellobium clypearia Benth. (accepted name: Archidendron clypearia (Jack) I.C.Nielsen; Mimosaceae), a popular traditional Chinese medicine, has a significant anti-inflammatory effect. The crude water extract of the aerial part of P. clypearia has been clinically applied to treat upper respiratory tract infections, acute gastroenteritis, laryngitis, and pharyngitis. However, the therapeutic mechanism of ethanol fraction of water extract (ESW) of P. clypearia to treat psoriasis should be complemented. The ai… Show more

“…However, the effects of topical agents for the treatment of psoriasis have also been widely studied in the last decade [ 26 , 45 , 69 , 91 ]. Recently, growing interest has risen in steroid-sparing therapies for psoriasis, and the efficacy of several plant extracts (e.g., Pithecellobium clypearia, Datura metel) has been demonstrated by various authors though the use of metabolomic analyses [ 33 , 34 , 66 , 67 ].…”

“…In this study, IQM was used to induce psoriasis in the animal models. This method is widely used and relatively mature Baek et al, 2012; Li et al, 2021; Zong et al, 2020). By the immune adjustment function to stimulate the activation of PDC receptor 7, IQM promotes the secretion of type I interferon and leads to typical psoriasis‐like skin manifestations and histopathological features in animals, such as excessive skin proliferation and particle layer thickening (Baek et al, 2012).…”
