Placement of feature management functionality in IN

Abstract

This paper summarizes the options available for the placement of feature management functionality in the Intelligent Network. It shows the various options available to the telephone companies for the distribution of features in a fully distributed network and the implications on the placement of the arbitration mechanism needed to resolve interactions among the features. The options for the placement of the feature management mechanism are explored and the impact on the network is also discussed.
