“…Dosimetric studies for APBI with CK are rare in the literature, and mainly focus on comparisons between different external beam techniques. CK dosimetry has been compared to 3D-CRT 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 , IMRT 25 , 29 , 31 , VMAT 28 , 29 , and tomotherapy. 27 A dosimetric assessment of conformal and several different IMRT techniques for APBI is also available in the literature.…”

“…CyberKnife stereotactic accelerated partial breast irradiation (CK-SAPBI) offers technical improvements in partial breast irradiation using real-time tracking, respiratory motion management, and submillimeter accuracy with few technical limitations ( 18 , 19 ). Reduced target and treatment uncertainty allows for treatment intensification, maximal target coverage reminiscent of high-dose brachytherapy while protecting normal breast tissue from unnecessary high-dose irradiation ( 20 22 ). With these technical improvements, we expect more women will be eligible for CK-SAPBI with similar local control, increased patient convenience, and improved cosmesis compared to existing EB-APBI techniques.…”

“…They found that APBI treatment plans achieved highly conformal target coverage and reduce the dose to nearby organs at risk relative to 3D-CRT plans (Heinzerling et al, 2010 ). A treatment planning study by Fox Chase reached similar conclusions for boost dose distributions produced for CyberKnife (Fan et al, 2010 ). Given these potential benefits, we present the technical set-up, physics planning, treatment, and early outcomes of nine patients who received APBI using the CyberKnife.…”
