“…Longitudinal comparisons to assess changes in AAA diameter and circulating biomarker concentrations were performed using random intercept linear mixed-effects models with the freely available R statistical package as previously described. 23 This was initially assessed in unadjusted analyses including endoleak presence and time as fixed effects and variation between individual patients as a random effect (unadjusted models). Time was treated as a factorial variable in models assessing AAA diameter as images were acquired at set intervals after EVAR.…”

“…Plasma was separated from the blood samples within 1 hour of collection and stored at −80°C until assayed. Plasma ferritin was measured using an immunoenzymometric assay (Accubind ELISA Microwells, Monobind Inc, Lake Forrest, USA) as previously . The interassay coefficient of variation (CV) was 12.9%.…”

“…Plasma ferritin was measured using an immunoenzymometric assay (Accubind ELISA Microwells, Monobind Inc, Lake Forrest, USA) as previously. 31 The interassay coefficient of variation (CV) was 12.9%. Plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D was measured using the automated DiaSorin "LIAISON 25(OH)D TOTAL" chemiluminescent immunoassay, as previously described.…”

“…Linear mixed‐effects (LME) models were also used to examine the association of metformin prescription with AAA growth in cohort 1. These were calculated using the R nlme and car packages (http://www.r-project.org), as described previously. Initially, an unadjusted random slope model was fitted using metformin prescription and time as fixed effects.…”
